I didn't care.
I cried until I had no tears left, and even then; the rain didn't relent as I lay down on the grass, my body soaked and cold as I shivered. The rain pelted my face and my body but I wasn't bothered.
I soon felt myself drift to sleep before I heard my name being shouted.
"Sophia?" I recognised the voice and I lay there praying that something could just take me from that place.
"Sophia.." The voice was close now, the pity clear as I lay there. I opened my eyes and looked at my best friend.
"Let me be, Alex." I whispered and he shook his head before picking me up off the floor. He wrapped me in a hug and I felt my body shake again before I let out a tearless sob. I couldn't breathe. I wanted to be away from here.
"I promise, we'll find those bastards Phia." I said nothing as he picked me up bridal style and I let my head rest on his shoulder, exhaustion taking over me as he carried me back through the park to a place which was sheltered but flashing lights were surrounding it.
"I've got her!" Alex yelled and people surrounded me before I was taken from Alex's arms and sat in the ambulance. The paramedics wrapped me up and handed me a hot drink as I sat there whilst they checked me out.
"Good timing Mr. Gaskarth. Any longer and she would have frozen." I looked at them blankly before looking back to Alex. I could see it in his face, he hated seeing me like this. I was always the happy go-lucky one with a childish attitude. But that me was pretty much dead for now.
Earlier that day
I got home from work, my back and neck killing as I waved to Alex as he drove off. I noted my mom wasn't home which was unusual for her, but I knew she'd be back soon. So I did my work, finished off my Collage for my Photography before I ate something and stayed up watching T.V. I was due to go on tour with my friends, Alex, Jack, Rian and Zack; otherwise known as All Time Low, tomorrow so I didn't have to worry about getting an early night.
I started to doze off when a sharp knock woke me up and I grumbled. I looked at the clock and it read 1am. Mom isn't one to forget her keys or come home this late.But as I opened the door, about to tell off my mother, I was greeted by two female police officers.
"Can we come in Miss Davies?" I nodded mutely as I stepped back and let them in, before closing the door and leading them to the front room and sitting down on the love seat whilst they sat on the couch opposite me.
"We've come to talk to you about your mother, Rachel." I felt myself freeze as I looked at them both, praying that this was a hoax. "We're sorry to tell you, but she's been murdered." The one woman spoke to me quietly as I felt my heart break. "On behalf of the force, I am so sorry for your loss and we're working to find your mothers killer." She started to talk to me and I couldn't take it in.
"Would you just excuse me?" I muttered and they both nodded. I got out of the room and put on my vans before going into the kitchen and opening the back door. I bolted out of the house and ran as fast as I could. Away from the house, away from the police. Away from it all.
I don't know how long it had been but I soon stopped running as I reached a deserted park. I just went in and wandered over to the field, sitting on the hill, finally breaking down in tears.
"Soooooooph." Jack whined the next day through the door. The paramedics ordered the boys to take me home and make sure I was kept warm for the next few days.
"Fu.ck off Jack." I grumbled under the sheets as I heard the door open. I braced myself as I felt Jack's body on top of mine and I let out a squeal as he ripped my covers off me.
"Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack." I whined as I shivered and Alex walked in laughing before hitting Jack around the head, who stood there looking utterly confused. Alex pulled the cover off him and threw it back over me and I curled up in the warmth as I grinned.
"Much better." Alex laughed and sat on the end of my bed whilst Jack just threw himself on the other side of my bed, causing me to bounce slightly.
"What time are you leaving today?" I questioned. I kinda figured that I wasn't gonna be allowed to come on tour seeing as they'd been ordered not to take me out any where.
The sadness was in Alex's eyes as Jack pouted at me.
"You've got to come with silly." Jack whined and I laughed, kissing his cheek before sniffling.
"Ew, ew, eeeeeeew. I have Soph geeeeerms." Her whined as he wiped his cheek causing me to giggle.
"We spoke to the doctors and he's advising us on not to take you, but as you can see, someone would be depressed and we sorta need you." Alex looked pointedly at Jack and I raised my eyebrows as a smile crept onto my face.
"Merch girl?" I questioned and he laughed before nodding. Jack wrapped his arms around me, almost suffocating me as he looked at me with puppy dog eyes.
"Pleeeease say you'll come." He whined. "Otherwise I'll be depressed and I'll miss you so much and I-" I cut him of by pressing my finger to his lips which he licked and I pulled a face.
"Ew. First, I'll come, but for the first three days I need to stay in the warmth. Second. Don't. Ever. Lick. Me. Again. Jack Barakat. If you do, I’ll hunt you down with a knife and fork and eat you." He grinned at me before licking my chin and I slapped him. "Who are you guys touring with any way?"
Alex piped up before Jack could say a word.
"You Me At Six and Paramore." I let out a squeal and clapped my hands and they both laughed at me. I only had the biggest girl crush on Hayley Williams and I had a maaasive crush on Taylor as well. It also meant I'd be able to see my boys because Josh and Dan were pretty much my big brothers.
I'd already booked the time off work so I could tour with the guys and I felt my excitement build up in my chest.
"What time are we leaving and who do I have to kill to get a hug off Hayley?" They both looked at me as if I'd grown a third head before they started laughing at me.
"We're leaving at noon." I flung the covers off me and launched myself into my wardrobe as I pulled down my touring suitcase and started packing.
I threw in about twelve different tops as well as three hoodies and I packed up four pairs of shorts, a long skirt, three regular skinnies and 4 ripped skinnies. I grabbed the necessities like toothbrush, toothpaste, hair stuff and shower gel. I chucked in countless amounts of bra's and girls boxers before I got dressed in my Drop Dead top with a pair of my red ripped skinnies and my vans. I didn't bother with my my hair, I just ran a brush through it before dragging my suitcase out and they both looked at me in shock.
"What?" I looked at them as they both started laughing.
"That's the fasted I've ever seen you move Soph." Jack teased and I glared at him.
"Dou.che it's already 10am." The both froze before Alex checked his phone and face palmed himself before dialing a number.
"Matt. Are they..?" He trailed off before a grin formed on his features and grabbed my hand before dragging me downstairs. I still had a hold of my suitcase, so it followed me and Jack was not far behind as I dropped my suitcase by the front door.
"Time to leave!" Alex yelled and I looked at the time confused. I thought we were leaving at noon. I looked at Alex and raised an eyebrow before he smiled.
"Guys arrived earlier than expected."
"Oh." I went into the kitchen and looked at the floor and remembered Sookie. "Alex! The cat!" I felt panic rise in my chest. Sookie was my best friend. I loved her to pieces and Alex knew how I felt when we went away for month long tours.
"She's coming with us." I flung myself at him and hugged him tightly and he hugged me back before laughing. "I felt you might need something as a home comfort this time." He whispered and I understood. Because I can't call my mom, he felt that having my cat with me would keep me going through the tour.
"Thank you." I whispered as he kissed my cheek.
"Any time." He mumbled back before a horn went off. They grabbed my suitcase whilst I grabbed a thick coat and slipped it on as I walked outside after Jack and Alex, shutting the door and locking it tightly.
I got on the bus and the door shut behind me and I heard an almighty cry come from the back lounge. I took off my jacket and threw it on my bunk as I headed to the back lounge where I was greeted by the sight of my baby. I scooped Sookie up and her purr was instantaneous as I sat down and snuggled up with her. Jack sat next to me and I grinned at him before resting my head on his shoulder as I stroked Sookie.
"Jack..?"
"Mm?"
"How did you find out about.. Mom?" I winced slightly and he shifted his arm around me carefully as not to disturb Sookie who had fallen asleep on my lap and he squeezed my shoulders tightly.
"They phoned up Alex asking if he'd seen you, and he told them no, he asked them why so they explained. We went over to the house and told them what you would have done and that's when we started searching." I rested my head on his shoulder and let out a sigh.
"I'm sorry for being such a dou.che and running off like that."
"You were hurting and you needed time. Granted, you went the wrong way about it but no one blames you." I nodded my head and left my head on his shoulder as a comfortable silence lapsed around us. The motion of the bus as well as the warmth of the room quickly sent me to sleep.
I was woken up by Sookie, who was rubbing her nose against my chin and I smiled as I looked up at Jack who was snoring softly. Sookie hopped off my lap and I poked Jack's side and he mumbled.
"Five more minutes." He mumbled sleepily before tightening his grip on me.
"Show starts in five." Jack jumped up awake, dazed and confused as he stood up.
"Don't sit there laughing, we’re... Wait, show doesn’t start in five minutes does it..?" I pressed my lips together and he pouted at me which caused me to start laughing and he narrowed his eyes at me before sitting down next to me.
"Bi.tch." He mumbled and I leaned on his shoulder again.
"You loooove me." I sang and he rolled his eyes before nodding.
"We're here!" The bus driver called as we pulled to a stop. Me and Jack scrambled from the back lounge fighting to get out first and Sookie trotted a head, walking down the steps and outside with her tail in the air. Me and Jack stood there in shock before laughing.
Alex pushed past us and rolled his eyes, same with Rian but Zack high fived us both and Jack followed them out as I slid on my coat. I heard chatter and I left my hair down as I stepped off the bus, being greeted with a chorus of cheers.
"Soooophieeeee." Josh sang and I laughed as I opened my arms out for him to hug me. He picked me up and spun me around whilst hugging me and I laughed.
"I missed you British boy."
"I missed you too Kitty cat." I laughed as he nuzzled my hair before letting me go so I could go and hug the rest of the band. After we’d said our hello’s, Josh threw an arm over my arm and I grinned up at him.
“Kitty cat stew later?” He raised an eyebrow and I slapped his arm before skipping over to Jack who was stood by himself.
"Saaaave me Jack! Josh wants to make kitty stew!" Jack scooped me up whilst laughing and I could hear a chorus of laughter from the guys and a female laugh caught my attention as Jack put me down.
I turned and saw Hayley, Taylor and Jeremy walk towards us and I felt my smile grow wider. Alex and Jack started laughing at me and I slapped them both before pouting. They pouted at me for slapping them and everyone started laughing at the three of us pouting. Eventually I gave in and started to giggle.
Everyone exchanged hello's as I went in search for Sookie who I found sulking behind our trailer and I called her. She automatically came over to me and I picked her up, cradling her in my arms before walking back towards where the group sat down whilst people worked around us, unloading kits into the venue.
I joined the group and sat between Taylor and Jack and I felt myself go shy as I sat there and listened to the group, stroking Sookie who was happily sat in front of me, her purr quite loud.
"Cute cat." Taylor turned to me and I felt myself grin.
"She's my baby. I'm kinda glad that the guys brought her along for me." I laughed as Sookie stood up and started walking around the circle. She stopped at Hayley and sat there, and Hayley happily fussed her and I laughed.
"So you're their merch chick right?" Hayley asked me and I nodded.
"Normally, I'd just tag along to annoy the guys when I could, but now it's my job to annoy them." I said a little to cheerfully and they all rolled their eyes.
"She's the biggest pain in the as.s" Rian started off.
"Never stops nagging us at all." Zach added.
"She ruins our fun." Jack chimed in.
"We lover her to pieces." Alex added on and I laughed at them.
"They're my best friends. Dunno what I'd do without these ret.ards. And I'm also starting to think Jack was dropped on his head when he was a baby."
Everybody laughed and Jack pouted at me.
“I was not!” He protested and I raised my eyebrows skeptically at him. He thought for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. “Maybe I was. I don’t really know.”.
"I love you Jackie." I kissed his cheek and he huffed, telling me I wasn't forgiven yet.
I gigged and rolled my eyes just as Matt came out.
“Get your as.ses in there. You have soundcheck.” He pointed at Alex, Jack, Rian and Zack and I laughed. “I want you in there soon too Tyler.” I grumbled as he used my last name, flipping him off as the lads walked off and the rest of us stood up.
“What to do before our as.ses get kicked?” Jeremy joked and I grinned at Josh.
“Pull a prank?” I suggested and they all looked at me with a raised eyebrow. “Hide there kit until the last minute before they have to go on stage?” I added on and I say Hayley grin.
“Won’t they freak out at you though?” Josh looked at me and I smirked.
“You forget who I am, Josh.” I grinned at him as the guys came back from Sound check. Jack looked at me warily and I smiled at him whilst the You Me At Six lads went to sound check.
“I do not trust you Sophia Tyler.” I glared at him as the guys laughed.
“Again. What’s with the full name thing?!” I glared at him and he kissed my cheek before shaking his head.
“For us to know and you to find out.” He winked and I slapped him before stalking off into the Venue and Talyor followed. I felt the heat rise in my cheeks as we walked backstage whilst the lads were sound checking and I grabbed two of the guitars. Taylor grabbed the bass and acoustic whilst slipping the drum sticks in his back pockets.
“Where can we hide them?” He whispered in my ear as the guys finished up their sound check. I had an idea cause I knew that Taylor was on sound check next.
“Psst!” I whispered at Josh and he spun around, his eyes searching the area before raising an eyebrow at me and Taylor. I raised the guitars and he nodded in recognition.
He walked over and took the guitars off Taylor and Taylor smiled at him as he fleetingly kissed my cheek before disappearing and I felt myself blush.
Josh smirked at me and I would have hit him had I not been holding the guitars.
We snuck out the back of the venue and crept over to Paramore’s tour bus before climbing on with the gear and setting it in the back lounge before high fiving each other.
I skipped off the bus and skipped over to the lads and about five minute later Josh appeared.
“Where’d you disappear to buddy boy?”
“Needed a toilet break.” He smirked and everyone rolled their eyes as I laughed.
“Tyler!” Matt yelled and I groaned before waving to everyone and walking back into the venue.
“Yes boss?”
“Set up the table please.” I grumbled as I started setting up the table next to another table with a Merch girl unpacking everything.
“At least I’m not on my own.” I chuckled and she turned to me before smiling.
“Roped into working I take it?” I nodded my head and she laughed before helping me out. “You’ll have it down to a tee by next week.” She giggled before helping me finish hanging everything up.
“What’s your name?” She asked me as we set out the CD’s and bracelets.
“I’m Sophia, but I get called Soph, Phia, Sophie. It doesn’t bother me what you call me.” I shrugged with a smile. “Yours?”
“My name’s Ella. Working with Paramore and helping out with You Me At Six.”
“I can help you if ya like? I’ve got Vinny helping me, so I’m more than happy to give you a hand.” I grinned at her and she let out a sigh of relief before placing the boxes behind the boards.
“You’re a life saver yanno?” I laughed and shrugged my shoulders lightly when my phone went off.

I started to giggle and Ella raised an eyebrow at me.
“Hey, do you have Taylor and Josh’s numbers? I need to tell them something.” She nodded her head before getting her phone out and telling me the numbers. I saved them in my contacts before I sent them a message

I grinned and Ella raised an eyebrow and I giggled.
“We hid their gear and they’re not gonna get it back till before the show. But shh.” I grinned at her and she laughed at me as Matt appeared behind me.
“Shh about what Tyler?”
“About the fact that I have private business.” I grinned at Matt who rolled his eyes before walking off and muttering something about kids.
I simply laughed as he flipped me off and I looked at the time.
“We’ve got about three hours to kill. Fancy getting a bite to eat?” Ella nodded before linking her arm through mine and we walked out of the venue. We bumped into Taylor, Hayley and Josh and they all grinned at us.
“We’re going for a bite to eat if you wanna come?” I offered. Hayley shook her head but Taylor and Josh nodded.
“It’d be nice to have decent food.” Josh mumbled and I laughed as we waved to Hayley.
Myself and Ella had our arms linked, Josh walked alongside Ella and Taylor walked next to me as we walked around the local town, debating on which place to go to.
Eventually we settled on a small cafe and ordered some food. When we sat down, Always Attract started playing and we all burst into laughter as Josh turned bright red.
“So, how come you chose to become a merch girl, Soph?” I hesitated before biting my bottom lip.
“Stuff happened at home. I didn’t want to be stuck at home bored so I accepted the guys invite to the tour.” I kept it short and simple, but just the way Josh looked at me, he knew I wasn’t telling him the full truth.
Taylor and Ella however, nodded their heads and accepted my lame excuse
